After announcing the engine Volkswagen up! TSI, the Brazilian subsidiary of the German brand now he informed all technical information, as well as differences against adopting the model sold in our country without turbocharging. Facts, photos and video, after the jump.
Having known the first details up! TSI, Volkswagen do Brasil now officially launched at the market and finally unveiled all its features. As outlined below, the addition of an engine with turbocharging, direct injection and more power and torque, brought with it a number of improvements to the smallest of the range. We will meet them in detail.
Aesthetically, as you know, the Volkwagen up! TSI carry a visual element that differentiates the tailgate and is painted black with "TSI" symbol on the left of it, with the letter "I" in red. We now know that this engine will be available, at least in Brazil, for versions: move, high, red, white, black, and the unprecedented speed cross up !, which opens with this engine.
It is distinguished from his brothers by bringing a bumper with a black stripe, which is combined with the roof and the trunk, painted the same color. The only available body color is white, and also has mirrors in blue color, matching with the adhesive at the base of the doors with the name "speed" included.
Another specific detail are the side skirts, rear spoiler false in black, and in relation to tires, while maintaining the measure of the high up!, it is you say, 185/65 R15, now changes the layout, and now has wheels called "Zurich II" diamond.
Indoors the changes are minor, but always looking for a more sporty look. The inner lining is black, the part of the console in other up! It is the body color in the speed up! It is always black and bears the inscription "speed" on the passenger side. They are upholstered in synthetic leather lined Volkswagen called "native" with logos "up!" embroidery.
Regarding the mechanics, we knew that incorporates the TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) technology, which combines a turbocharger with direct injection. Internally the new EA211 driver is called R3, being the "R" for "Reihe", which translated from German into Spanish means "line". The "3", is obviously the number of cylinders.
The block, as the EA211's up! "Non-turbo" is aluminum (total weighs about 13.5 kg), but in this version TSI technology sum variable command double valves, ie, intake and exhaust. In turn, they have added new pistons and connecting rods specific to this driver. In turn, the turbocharger, the rotor is less than 40 mm (it seems almost toy).
The box, although it MQ200's up! normal (or the goal too), now on the Volkswagen up! TSI has extended its relationship differential by 26% to optimize performance and fuel economy especially. Thus, the fifth gear is now 3,625: 1, the circular shift to 100 km / h with the engine running at 2300 rpm allowing.
Thus the 999 tricilíndrico cc, with a turbocharger "single scroll" and intercooler (integrated into the intake manifold) gives a maximum power of 101 hp at 5,000 rpm (105 if ethanol is used), and a maximum torque of 165 Nm available from 1,500 rpm, a more than interesting for a product of this size and weight (951 kg in running order) value.
With this letter, the up! TSI accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 9.3 seconds (9.1 with ethanol) and achieves a maximum speed of 182 km / h (2 km / h ethanol). Regarding consumption, the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology of Brazil (Inmetro), obtained the following values: 7.2 l / 100 km city and 6.2 l / 100 km highway (with gasoline) . Like his brothers aspirated, it maintains the 50 liter capacity in the fuel tank.
The chassis and body also suffered some modifications against the model we have in Country. For example, the length increased by 40 mm (3,645 mm in total), while the front overhang is now 625 mm to maintain the same balance between the center of the wheel and the front bumper in the other up !. The other dimensions are identical.
The brakes and suspension are also new. For example, the dampers now have a more "sporty" calibration and adopts the front axle stabilizer bar, the up! MPI lack. The front discs are now 256 mm in diameter, but they are assisted by a nine-inch brake booster to improve performance.
In turn, all up! TSI, regardless of the version of equipment, bring standard brakes ABS + EBD, as is standard in their MPI brothers, but added traction control, which Volkswagen called M-ABS, as well as the MSR systems (control engine inertia torque) and GMA (control torque) which equalizes the rotation of the wheels based on the deceleration and road conditions, in order to avoid loss of adhesion curves.
As already I mentioned in the previous note this product arrival to the World market for now is a mystery. From Caricars we believe it should reach at least 2016, and would be a very interesting option for those looking for a little more CITYC with the rest of polenta.
