smart will be one novelty in Frankfurt, it will be the model fortwo cabrio variant. This is the third generation product that shares all elements with the coupe, but with the possibility to enjoy the bright sun when spring arrives.
With forfour and fortwo coupe and presented in the past Hall of Paris 2014, smart presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens in a few days, the two-seater convertible variant. In principle there are no aesthetic changes facing the fortwo coupe over the previous frotwo cabrio, this third generation 15% improvement in its structural rigidity.
Novelty clearer obviously is the canvas roof which is electrically retractable. It takes twelve seconds run out of the roof and also you can also remove the arches that support the roof, something has to be done by hand, to move from a convertible targa itself.
The soft top, which can be folded and deployed from the command of the own key, remote, will be available in three colors: blue, red, or black. Moreover, it is about 4% larger than the previous fortwo cabrio, with an area of 1.8 m2.
It is made of polyester and cotton, with an outer shell of polyacrylic fabric and a layer of rubber in between. In total, it has a thickness of 20 millimeters. The rear window is glass and has the ability to electrically desempañarse. Moreover, removable roof bars can be stored in a compartment in the rear.
The initial mechanical supply available for the smart fortwo cabrio will be identical to the coupe. Initially the 1.0 will be launched with three cylinders and 71 horsepower supercharged 0.9 and 90 hp. Standard they will have the Stop & Start system with a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic, twinamic, double clutch.
